For those who like to get moving, Podkarpackie is a good place.

The idea was aptly conveyed in a very popular book for children by Professor Ambrose Inkblot: ‘If you want to relax, go running, jumping, flying, swimming, dancing, or just moving’. The Podkarpackie is an excellent place for active leisure. It is enough to have comfortable shoes to go hiking in the Bieszczady, or a simple bicycle to explore the Eastern Roztocze. Perhaps you prefer horses? This is a good place for you, too. There are lots of equestrian centres here, some with the very friendly Hucul horses. In fact, the Podkarpackie is also known to historians of horse breeding. It was in a breeding farm near Rzeszów that the famous Bask was born - a purebred Arabian stallion, who was imported to the USA and sired 500 American champions.

The diverse landscape of the region will by satisfying for everyone. During your holidays you can quickly change the location, from the mountains to the lowlands. And there are lots of options for active leisure with varied level of difficulty. Even a five-year-old can handle some hiking trails in the Bieszczady. On the other hand, experienced hikers can conquer a few peaks in one day, and feel happy. Along the way you can also visit fascinating landmarks and learn about the interesting history of this area. You will encounter many unique attractions in the Low Beskids, the Przemyskie Foothills, the Słonne Mountains, the Roztocze highland and in the Sandomierz Primeval Forest. Over 90 hiking trails, with a total length of 2,800 km have been delineated throughout the region.

In the Podkarpackie there are also excellent bike routes, including the 459-kilometre long trail which is part of the Green Velo Eastern Cycling Route. It leads from Narol and the spa town of Horyniec-Zdrój, through Przemyśl, where you can choose to go to Posada Rybotycka with the 15th-century Greek-Catholic church, and then to Arłamów, which during the communist times was a leisure centre for top politicians, and today holds a luxury hotel which sometimes hosts the Polish national football team.

Those into horse-riding will also find lots of options here. Throughout the region there are excellent routes leading through forests and fields. There are equestrian centres in every district of the region. Those located in the Bieszczady organise trips on horseback, sometimes a few days long, going through mountains, valleys, forests and rivers, with accommodation in mountain hostels and guesthouses.
